Key specifications

  • Heavy duty, continuous hinge for high-traffic doors. Visible mounting when closed
  • Continuous hinge line with no separate knuckles — the door holds its alignment for the life of the building
  • Self-lubricating medical-grade bearings — the door swings smoothly and closes quietly with no oiling ever
  • Runs the full height of the door — the weight spreads along the entire edge instead of three hinge points
  • Rated for doors up to 300 lbs, or 600 lbs with reinforcing — enough for a heavy solid-core entrance

The LH957 is a heavy duty continuous hinge that runs the full height of the door, in stainless steel on a pin and barrel action. It carries doors up to 600 pounds and 48” wide.

Why continuous rather than butt hinges

Three butt hinges concentrate a door's whole weight at three points, and those points are where a heavy door eventually works loose and starts to sag. A continuous hinge spreads that load along the entire edge. Nothing loosens at a single screw, and the door stays in alignment for the life of the building rather than needing adjustment every few years.

The pin and barrel action carries the load on a continuous pin, and self-lubricating bearings keep the swing smooth and quiet.

What to check before you order

Your door height. A continuous hinge is cut to the door, so measure it.

Your door weight and width. Up to 600 pounds and 48”. Past that you need a different specification.

The frame. It flush mounts, so the frame has to take a full-height hinge. Worth having an installer look at the opening before ordering rather than after.
