The LH534 is the medium duty closer in the Embassy Series from Lawrence Hardware, made for residential exterior doors, small offices, apartment common doors and light retail entrances. It is certified Grade 2 to ANSI/BHMA A156.4 and tested to 1,000,000 cycles and carries doors up to 125 lbs and 48 in. wide.

Why this one

It is the LH503 with more muscle. Power size #4 closes a door that a lighter closer would leave standing open — a doorway that catches wind, or a door with a stiff seal or weatherstripping fighting it. It carries the same 125 lbs and has the same backcheck. It is also available fire rated.

What to check before you order

The closing force is fixed. This closer is set at the factory to power size #4 and cannot be adjusted up or down after it is installed. That is what keeps it simple and affordable, and it is the one thing to get right before ordering: size #4 takes more force to open than size #3, which matters if children or elderly visitors use the door. For a normal sheltered doorway, most people are better served by the LH503 at size #3.

Latch and sweep speeds adjust after mounting; the spring force does not. Backcheck is built in.

How does the installation process work for the LH534?
Mount the closer body to the door using the included screws and template. The LH534 supports regular arm, top-jamb, and parallel-arm mounting — installation hardware for all three mounts is included. Connect the arm assembly to the door frame bracket, then adjust closing speed, latch speed, and (where applicable) backcheck using the included wrench. Most installations take 30-45 minutes.
What size door does the LH534 fit?
The LH534 is rated for doors up to 42 in. wide and 150 lbs. This makes it suitable for medium duty applications. For larger doors, see our heavier-duty models.
Is the LH534 ANSI Grade 1?
Yes — the LH534 meets ANSI/BHMA A156.4 Grade 2. It has been third-party tested per BHMA standards and certified for commercial use.
What products does the LH534 compare to?
The LH534 is engineered as a direct functional and footprint replacement for: Norton 9300 · LCN 1450 · Sargent 250. In many cases the existing mounting holes will line up with no re-drilling required.
Is it ADA compliant?
Yes. The LH534 can be adjusted to meet ADA opening-force requirements (5 lbs maximum for interior doors). Adjustment screws are accessible on the closer body — no disassembly required.
What finishes are available?
The LH534 ships in multiple finishes — see the swatches above. The most common are Aluminum (AL), Dark Bronze (DU/690), Painted Brass (PB), Matte Black (US19), and Polished Chrome (US26). All are powder-coated for long-term corrosion resistance.
