About the brand
Lawrence Hardware
Lawrence Hardware has manufactured commercial door hardware since 1876. Its hardware is certified or built to ANSI/BHMA standards. Trusted by contractors, builders, and architects across North America for nearly 150 years.
The LH5016 is the medium/heavy duty closer in the Embassy Series from Lawrence Hardware, made for aluminum storefronts, offices, classrooms and hotel corridors — doors that see steady use all day without the punishment of a main public entrance. It is certified Grade 1 to ANSI/BHMA A156.4 past 2,000,000 cycles and rated for roughly 2,000 openings a day.
Why this one
It is the least expensive closer we sell that still carries the Grade 1 rating and the full #1–#6 adjustable spring. That combination is the point: one unit covers a wide range of doors up to 150 lbs and 60 inches, so a building with mixed openings can standardize on a single model instead of stocking three.
What to check before you order
The door. Up to 150 lbs and up to 60 inches wide. A heavier exterior door belongs on the LH816 or the LH8016.
The frame. Regular arm, top jamb and parallel arm hardware all ship in the box. Check the clearance at your door stop first.
The closing force. Spring power #1 through #6 is set at installation. Dial it to the door, and to the ADA limit where the opening has to be accessible.
Good to know
Sweep speed, latch speed and backcheck are all adjustable once it is mounted. Unlike the LH816 and LH8016, the LH5016 does not offer delayed action — if you need the door to pause before it starts to close, choose one of those instead. It does not hold the door open on its own either.
If the door is heavier or the entrance busier than this, step up to the LH816. The LH8016 is the choice for the heaviest doors in a building.
