The LH302 is the light duty closer in the Embassy Series from Lawrence Hardware, made for interior doors in homes and light commercial spaces — pantry and closet doors, small apartment doors, bathrooms. It is certified Grade 2 to ANSI/BHMA A156.4 and carries doors up to 75 lbs and 36 in. wide.

Why this one

At power size #2 it needs only about 3 lbs of force to open, which is what makes it ADA capable and easy for almost anyone to push. That light touch is the whole point of the model. It is the closer for a door that people should barely notice is closing itself.

What to check before you order

The closing force is fixed. This closer is set at the factory to power size #2 and cannot be adjusted up or down after it is installed. That is what keeps it simple and affordable, and it is the one thing to get right before ordering: size #2 is right for a light interior door in a sheltered spot. A door that catches a draft, or an exterior door of any kind, needs more force than this closer can give — look at the LH303 or the LH503 instead.

The door. Up to 75 lbs, up to 36 in. wide. It mounts regular arm or top jamb.

Good to know

Latch speed and sweep speed are adjustable after mounting, but the spring force is not. There is no backcheck on this model, so on a door that gets thrown open hard, step up to the LH503.

For a slightly firmer close on a similar door, look at the LH303.

Light Duty — Residential and Low-traffic Commercial Spaces. This grade 2, spring-power size 2 door closer is ideally suited for light doors or gates such as interior doors, pool gates, other light commercial and residential doors.

How does the installation process work for the LH302?
Mount the closer body to the door using the included screws and template. The LH302 supports regular arm, top-jamb, and parallel-arm mounting — installation hardware for all three mounts is included. Connect the arm assembly to the door frame bracket, then adjust closing speed, latch speed, and (where applicable) backcheck using the included wrench. Most installations take 30-45 minutes.
What size door does the LH302 fit?
The LH302 is rated for doors up to 32 in. wide and 100 lbs. This makes it suitable for light duty applications. For larger doors, see our heavier-duty models.
Is the LH302 ANSI Grade 1?
Yes — the LH302 meets ANSI/BHMA A156.4 Grade 3. It has been third-party tested per BHMA standards and certified for commercial use.
What products does the LH302 compare to?
The LH302 is engineered as a direct functional and footprint replacement for: LCN 1370 · Norton 1602. In many cases the existing mounting holes will line up with no re-drilling required.
Is it ADA compliant?
Yes. The LH302 can be adjusted to meet ADA opening-force requirements (5 lbs maximum for interior doors). Adjustment screws are accessible on the closer body — no disassembly required.
What finishes are available?
The LH302 ships in multiple finishes — see the swatches above. The most common are Aluminum (AL), Dark Bronze (DU/690), Painted Brass (PB), Matte Black (US19), and Polished Chrome (US26). All are powder-coated for long-term corrosion resistance.
