Key specifications

  • 3-11/16" wide and 1/2" high — a rabbeted threshold sized for a standard commercial opening
  • The 1/2" height meets ADA — a wheelchair or a hand cart rolls across without catching on it
  • Neoprene Bumper — a tough seal that keeps its shape after years of the door closing on it
  • Bumper and finger flap seal together — sound, drafts, smoke, and heat stay on their own side
  • Levels the change between two flooring types — fewer trips at the door and less energy lost

The LH3465 is a rabbeted threshold in extruded aluminum or architectural bronze, 3-11/16" wide and 1/2" high. It bridges the floor at the opening, closing the gap under the door against drafts, rain and dust.

Why a rabbeted threshold

A rabbeted threshold is stepped rather than flat, so the door closes down into the step instead of just over it. That step is what blocks driven rain and wind on an exposed exterior opening.

At this height it meets the ADA Standards for Accessible Design and ICC/ANSI A117.1 — low enough for a wheelchair to cross without a lip to climb, and low enough not to catch a toe. On an accessible opening that is a requirement, not a preference.

What to check before you order

The width of your opening. Available in . Order the nearest length up and cut to fit.

The floor either side. A threshold stands 1/2" above the floor, so check the door still clears it and that the height works with whatever flooring meets it.

Flathead zinc-plated screws are included. Longer lengths than those listed can be ordered; they ship by freight because of their size, so contact us and we will quote it.

Commonly used in commercial, educational, community, and institutional settings such as with steel or aluminum door frames on exterior or interior doors. Neoprene rubber seal reduces transmission of sounds, drafts, smoke and temperature leaks. Low, 1/2 inch height makes it fit for public use where wheelchair accessibility is required by ADA.
