It presses into the kerf slot — the narrow saw cut already in the face of most modern door frames — and seals against the door where it closes.

Why kerf-mounted

There is nothing to screw and nothing to drill. The barbed edge grips inside the slot, and built-in 3M pressure-sensitive adhesive holds it while it settles. It is the fastest weatherstripping to fit and the easiest to replace when it eventually wears.

Silicone stays flexible in the cold and does not harden or crack over the years, which is what earns it the higher price over sponge rubber.

What to check before you order

Your kerf slot size. This one fits a 1/8" x 1/4" slot, with a seal ~1/2" wide by 1/2" deep.
